What is KHC?
Kentucky Housing Corporation is a state agency created to help Kentuckians achieve affordable homeownership. They work with approved lenders across the state to offer special mortgage programs with competitive rates and down payment assistance. KHC isn't a lender themselves—they provide the programs that lenders use to help you.
KHC's Main Programs
KHC offers several programs: Regular DAP provides up to $10,000 in down payment assistance as a repayable second loan. Affordable DAP offers up to $10,000 for buyers under 80% of area median income. The HOME program provides up to $15,000 for lower-income buyers. All programs can be combined with competitive 30-year fixed-rate mortgages.
How to Access KHC Programs
To use KHC programs, work with a KHC-approved lender. These lenders know the programs inside and out and handle all the paperwork. You'll need to complete a homebuyer education course (often free and available online). Income limits apply but are generous—many middle-income families qualify.
